Geothermal Play Types along the East Africa Rift System: Examples from Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania

چکیده
Based on geophysical, geological and geochemical investigations carried out in the last decade, we reviewed three major geothermal plays that well represent different structural, volcanological hydrogeological realms can be encountered East African Rift System (EARS). Alalobeda (Ethiopia) Menengai (Kenya) are examples of typical Eastern Branch EARS. The former is a fault-leakage-controlled play located graben structure. heat source likely deep-seated, widespread magmatism, associated with lithosphere thinning regionally affects this area. reservoir temperature water-dominated system ranges from 185 to 225 °C. classified as convection-dominated magmatic type. could intrusion beneath caldera. A shallow, liquid-dominated (with temperatures 150–190 °C) an intermediate-deep reservoir, hosting steam liquid 230–340 °C), were detected. Kilambo-Ilwalilo (Tanzania) example Western It half-graben realm where regional fault controls ascending groundwater flow. Reservoir about 110–140 °C, provided by thinning. results study provide helpful guidelines for future studies resources rift.

Magnetic properties of some carbonatites from Tanzania, East Africa
The magnetization of fresh natrocarbonatite lavas from Oldoinyo Lengai in Tanzania is dominated by small amounts of singleor pseudo-single-domain grains of a spinel in the solid solution series jacobsite (MnFe204)-magnetite (Fe304). Although this phase may acquire TRM before carbonatite lava crust has ceased being mobile, the Oldoinyo Lengai samples are good palaeomagnetic recorders of the fiel...
متن کاملA fossilized human mandibular fragment from Kangatotha, Kenya, East Africa.
Working west of Lake Rudolf in 1965 Professor Bryan Patterson found at Kangatotha, among other human specimens yet to be described, a fragment of the corpus of a human mandible bearing three molar teeth. Its C-14 date is 2835 B.C. The mandible is stout, heavily mineralized, and closely similar to others from Ishango on the west shore of Lake Edward found by de Heinzelin earlier. The three teeth...
متن کاملFactors affecting tax compliant attitude in Africa: Evidence from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa
In this study, we explore factors that determine citizens’ tax compliance behavior in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa using attitude and perception data from the new round 5 of Afrobarometer surveys. Using a binary logit regression, we find some similarities, but also differences in factors that are correlated with tax compliance attitude in the four countries. An increase in the perce...

In this study, we explore factors that determine citizens’ tax compliance attitude in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa. The analysis is based on attitude and perception data from the new round of Afrobarometer surveys, which contain more tax-specific information than previous rounds. Using binary logit regression, we find some similarities, but also differences in factors that are corre...
متن کاملIs There an Enabling Environment for Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture in East Africa? Stakeholder Perspectives From Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.
BACKGROUND There is growing recognition that "nutrition-sensitive" development is necessary to ensure nutrition security and reduce malnutrition. While agriculture has the potential to be a strong driver of malnutrition reduction and serves as the main source of livelihood for approximately two-thirds of East Africa's population, its potential to reduce malnutrition is currently not being reali...
